What awful news. I know I definitely won't be purchasing this game if this is going to be the case. Good thing Runic Games is coming out with Torchlight 2 later this year!

1) I like that the game is going in a WoW direction as far as this goes, as long as it isn't monthly membership.
2) I'm hoping this will change, or at least Blizzard implement mods that players would like to use. (Otherwise this point sucks HARD)
3) Further down this article, they DO say that there will be a level cap on items, and a game gold auction house as well.

Overall, i will probably still be purchasing this game, as long as it's not a paid membership.
